Progress Report: MBCA opens in Gweru, Nandos, Choppies before Christmas

MBCA Bank opened its doors to Gweru clients on Monday.

The financial institution renovated and took over what used to be Kingdom Bank along Main Street. As of December 2011, the bank was a medium-sized financial services provider in Zimbabwe, with an asset base of nearly US$181 million and shareholders' equity of nearly US$19.7 million.

Meanwhile Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko's Choppies Supermarket chain is set to open two outlets in the city before Christmas. They took over the building that used to be Pamberi Wholesale, also along Main Street.

Food giant Innscor, according to general manager Warren Meares, will also open a Nandos outlet at the intersection of Fifth Street and Lobengula Avenue, maybe to take advantage of travellers who use the luxury coach drop-off point at Teecherz Shopping Mall (Formally Shopwell Centre)

Nandos operates about 1,000 outlets in 30 countries. and specializes in Portuguese flame-grilled peri-peri chicken.
