Mkoba woman savaged by machete-wielding boyfriend

A Mkoba 5 woman, Winnet Takawira, is fortunate to be alive after being struck several times by his boyfriend with a machete following a domestic dispute.

Takawira, who lost a finger and is nursing head and hand injuries, narrated to journalists from a bed at a local hospital how her boyfriend Joseph Mupandle struck her several times all over the body.

"He later phoned my sister, asking whether I was still alive as he had intended to kill me," she said.
 

Most of he notorious Mupandle brothers, numbering to as much as 14, are well-known savages from Shurugwi, and they are known to rob artisanal miners of gold ore.

Meanwhile, police have appealed for information leading to the arrest of Mupandle, who is now facing attempted murder charges.
