Reuben Barwe and 'Alhaji' Aliko Dangote!

'Alhaji' Aliko Dangote and President Mugabe
Did you notice how ZBC journalist Reuben Barwe continuously referred to Africa's richest man as 'Alhaji'?

Dangote was in the country yesterday as he seeks to invest in power generation, cement manufacturing, as well as setting up a coal plant.

Forgive Reuben, given Dangote's fortunes, even you yourself might have called the billionaire by any 'good' name just to please him...kuti maybe wosiirwawo twu-cash (you know!)

Sometimes spelled Hadji, Haji,  Al hage, Al hag or El-Hajj, or Hajji. the title is an honorific one, given to a Muslim person who has successfully completed the Hajj to Mecca, as well as a derogatory term used by American military personnel towards Arabs, Muslims and Middle Easterners in general.

Says nairaland.com: "Alhaji or Alhaja or Hajia is not a title but a word in Arabic which means “Stranger”. If you are a male, you are male stranger to the Arabs (Alhaji). If you are a female, you are female stranger to the Arabs (Alhaja or Hajia). Just like the English words HE and SHE."

I like it how our Zimbo sister who works for a Nigeria television station facilitated the deal.

Hmmm. Tapinda-tapinda!
