HEAVY RAINS HIT GWERU

From a maximum temperature reading of 35 degree Celsius, heavy rains Thursday afternoon (1530 GMT +2) suddenly started pounding the Midlands capital continuously for not less than 30 minutes.

 OSKID IS STARFM PRODUCER OF THE YEAR

Gweru-born music producer Prince 'Oskid' Tapfuma was named as the Star FM People's Choice Awards at an event held recently at the Harare International Conference Centre. 

The 23 year-old started the year at Kenako Music, before helping form Million Dynasty Records with a colleague.

At Kenako, Oskid produced the likes of Ex-Q, Rocky and Winky D, whose 'Gafa Life' album is receiving considerable airplay at virtually all local radio stations

"I'm out of words for winning this award. I never expected it, but I just want to thank you.

"Remember this year is a year of lessons and its now time for corrections," said Oskid.












WOMAN ATTEMPTS TO SECURE CIO JOB USING FAKE CERTIFICATE

A Gweru woman was arrested after allegedly superimposing her name on her sister's Ordinary Level certificate, scanning it and using it in an attempt to secure a job with the Office of the President.

Linda Chizema Gapu, 20, of Mkoba Village 15 appeared before Gweru Magistrate Mildred Matuvi facing one count of forgery.

She pleaded guilty and was remanded in custody to Thursday for trial.

Kudakwashe Ashley Sibanda(19), confessed to killing his mother last Thursday in cold blood, stabbing her five times.

He briefly appeared before Magistrate Judith Taruvinga on Tuesday as cops sought to extend her stay in police custody pending finalization of investigations.

On Wednesday, the youngster was remanded in custody to 23 December.

Sibanda also is facing a culpable homicide charge after he hit a pedestrian in Norton, as well as a charge for making away without paying at Total Gweru when he filled up fuel worth $63 in his car, and disappeared. 


HIV POSITIVE WOMAN RAPES MENTAL PATIENT

AN HIV positive Gweru woman who forced a mentally challenged man to be intimate with her has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Unet Khumalo, 41, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated indecent assault when she appeared before regional magistrate Collet Ncube. In passing sentence, Ncube said Khumalo deserved to be punished as she had exposed an innocent man to HIV.

PRISON BOSS SLEEPS WITH MARRIED SUBORDINATE IN EXCHANGE FOR PROTECTION 

A married senior official resident at Whawha Prison on the outskirts of Gweru allegedly demanded and had sex with a subordinate who is also married, to shield her from a disciplinary hearing.

Sources at the prison allege that Superintendent Happyson Sithole who works at the Regional Office has been having an adulterous relationship with junior officer Prison Officer 2 (PO2) Abigail Gurunura for the past five months.

Supt Sithole has allegedly arranged for his subordinate to be transferred to Chivhu Prison after his wife stumbled on love messages between him and Gurunura on his phone, last week.

The source said Gurunura who had a white wedding with her husband identified as Banda has been sleeping with her boss since June this year.
Supt Sithole's wife, Mukoti Makan'a, confirmed the relationship between her husband and the junior prison officer.


SUSPECTED RAPIST CAUGHT WITH 20 LADIES PANTIES IN SHACK

A suspected rapist - Moses Rukodzo (39) of Gweru was nabbed with 20 pairs of women's panties in his shack in the bush.

His underwear collection drew a huge crowd of people who quickly called in the police.

"I used to talk to him a lot. One day I asked him why he stays in the bush and he told me that he was following his ancestors instructions," a resident told B-Metro.

A suspected notorious criminal, who was arrested in Gweru, has given chilling confessions of how he committed a spate of crimes.
Daniel Mpofu, who has been on the police wanted list, is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and rape.

After evading justice for some time, the long arm of the law finally caught up with him.
